*Is this a flamethrower? Yes, except in the state of California where a Flamethrower is defined as "Emitting flames over 10 ft of distance". Owning a Flamethrower in California is illegal, but since this only reaches 8 ft, it would be more accurately be described as a long distance camping stove. But if it is in any other state? Then yeah, its a Flamethrower
I got involved with the Underground Robotic Fighting Ring of San Francisco. And that is my flamethrower on the Apex Predator of robotic combat
CIX, the dominating champion of SF, invited me to see what damage could be done by a firebending robot. We wanted to showcase the thrill and primal possibilies that took place in this budding community
Peter He and I spent the summer designing and building the flamethrower in the basement of Halo, the SF Startup we had joined for the summer
This is the first hand-held flamethrower that connects directly to an onboard butane canister allowing automatically refuel between punches, providing the most entertaining firebending experience yet
I designed and assembled the Electricals and Butante Plumbing of the Flamethrower. The system ran off of a XIAO NRF52840 which controlled the Relays which triggered the Arc Lighter Solenoid valves. The onboard IMU detects the acceleration and quick halt of a punching fist, upon which the flamethrower activated.
The system included many safety mechanisms: An E-Stop, NC-Solenoids, Pressure Release Vents, and Pressure Sensors to monitor the capacity of the flamethrower
